The petitioners participated in the selection process for the post of Assistant Teachers conducted by the DPSC, South 24 Parganas in the year 2009.

reexamination was held on 12.04.2023. The petitioners complain that the mathematics examination was firstly in English and secondly it was substantially out of syllabus of a Class X qualified candidate.

The petitioners came to know that they are all students of Bengali medium and do not understand English to any extent. They were treated unfairly in having to attempt a question paper primary in English. The petitioners have scored 00 and 0.5 marks respectively.

This Court notes that the question nos.

11 to 20 were in Bengali. Given the petitioners' marks, their capacity must be considered to be abysmally low.

This Court further notes that knowledge of English to some extent is mandatory as per the present academic set up. The question in English are neither complicated nor warrant any substantial knowledge of English. This Court has carefully considered the examination paper produced by the DPSC, South 24 Parganas.

In those circumstances, this Court is of the view that the petitioners are not even remotely fit to teach mathematics even in the Bengali medium in the primary section of the State.

This Court does not find any infirmity in the examination conducted by the DPSC, South 24 Parganas insofar as the petitioners are concerned. 7.

The writ petition fails and is hereby dismissed.

There will be no order as to costs.
