Mr. Indrajit Halder ...for the Petitioner Mr. Debanjan Mukherjee ...for CESC 17-07-2025 AKG Ct. 15 The petitioner has applied for a separate electricity connection. His prayer was rejected by the Calcutta Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (CESC) on the ground of alleged load splitting.

The petitioner, however, contends that the rejection is arbitrary, as he resides separately from his mother along with his family members and has a separate gas connection.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of CESC opposes the petitioner's claim and submits that the petitioner is presently availing electricity through a meter standing in the name of his mother.

Having regard to the factual disputes involved in this matter, I am of the opinion that the petitioner should approach the concerned Grievance Redressal Officer by filing a representation challenging the order passed by CESC rejecting his request for a separate connection. If such representation is made, the Grievance Redressal Officer shall consider the same and, after giving an

opportunity of hearing to all concerned, shall pass a reasoned and speaking order within a period of 30 days from the date of receipt of the representation. Accordingly, WPA 14870 of 2025 is disposed of. Urgent certified website copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
