Petitioner is aggrieved by the fact that an information was furnished before the police authorities, pursuant to which Kalighat PS case no. 75 dated 09.04.2025 was registered for investigation. Petitioner complains that again the family members of accused persons in the said case are threatening and in spite of police authorities being informed no steps are being taken.

Mr. Samanta, learned advocate appearing for the State submits that police authorities have conducted an enquiry but the truth of the accusations is questionable. As such the police authorities are unable to take any steps.

In view of the stand of the State, petitioner would approach the jurisdictional Magistrate in seisin of the Kalighat PS case no. 75 dated 09.04.2025 seeking a progress report as well as seeking for protection under

the relevant provisions of Witness Protection of Scheme, 2018. In case the learned Magistrate after consideration of threat perception report is satisfied he will take steps in consonance with the provisions of law.

With the aforesaid observations WPA 15019 of 2025 is disposed of.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
