The only grievance of the petitioners is that although the life of the board of directors of the society expired on July 13, 2022, no steps have been taken by the Co-operative Election Commission to make preparations for holding the election of the society.

Mr. Nayak, learned advocate appearing for the State and the Deputy Registrar of the Cooperative Societies, Cooperation Directorate and Mr. Sureka, learned advocate appearing on behalf of the West Bengal Co-operative Election Commission, submit that the respondents shall take necessary steps to hold the election of the cooperative society, urgently.

Under such circumstances, nothing further remains to be decided in the writ petition. The respondents shall take steps to hold the election, in accordance with law, and complete the process within a period of four months from the date of receipt of the copy of this order.

The writ petition is accordingly disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.

Parties are to act on the server copy of this order.
