The petitioners are students of Master in Business Administration Course, 2020-2022 batch in the Xavier Business School affiliated to the St. Xavier's University.
According to the petitioners, they are facing financial crisis in view of Covid-19 pandemic and pray for concession in respect of the non-academic charges. The petitioners claimed to have made a representation to the Vice Chancellor of the University with a copy to the Registrar of the University. The learned advocate representing the College submits, upon instructions, that in the event the students want to avail financial concession, then the students are required to apply personally giving details of the financial problem that they are facing. Only upon receipt of individual applications along
with the details, the College will consider the case of the students.
It has also been pointed out that the representation dated 2nd September, 2021 has not been signed by any of the students. It is an anonymous representation made by the batch of 2022.
It has further been submitted that the College is providing all the facilities, which have been categorized as non-academic fees. It has been submitted that the Library and the other facilities are open and are available to the willing candidates. It has further been submitted that in the event individual representations are forwarded for claiming concession of the non-tuition fee, then necessary steps shall be taken by the College to consider the representation of the students.
In view of the submissions made herein above the instant writ petition is disposed of by granting liberty to the petitioners to make individual representation along with supporting documents before the College indicating in details the financial difficulty faced by them to pay the fees.
If such representation is made, the respondents shall consider the same at the earliest, but positively within a period of 14 days from the date of making the representation and to pass a reasoned
order and communicate the same to the petitioners immediately thereafter.
The writ petition stands disposed of.
Liberty granted to the learned advocate representing the respondent Nos. 2 to 4 to file the Vakalatnama in the department Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon completion of usual legal formalities.
