APP Mr. Sandip Kundu ... for the State-respondent(s) Learned advocate for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is languishing since 20.09.2024 and there is no progress in the case, although, the prosecution intends to rely upon 11 witnesses in order to prove its case. Learned advocate for the State, on the other hand, opposes the prayer for bail and submits that commercial quantity of brown sugar has been recovered from the possession of the present petitioner.

Having considered the materials so available, I am not inclined to release the petitioner on bail. Hence, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is Rejected.

However, learned advocate for the State is directed to inform that on each and every date so fixed and/or the schedule so fixed, there must be progress in the case so far

as recording of the evidence is concerned and all efforts be exerted to complete the vital witnesses proposed to be examined within the next six months.

The petitioner would be at liberty to approach this court after 15th May, 2026.

Accordingly, CRM (NDPS) 848 of 2025 is dismissed. Pending application(s), if any, is also disposed of. Parties to act on a server copy of this order duly collected from the official website of the Hon'ble High Court, Calcutta.
