The petitioners are participating in the ensuing Panchayat Elections either as candidates, poll agents or supporters in the campaign. They apprehend that coercive measures may be taken in respect of already registered FIRs or any new proceedings that may be instituted against them.

In view of the ensuing Panchayat Election, let no coercive measures be taken against the petitioners by the police until 15th July, 2023.

A list of 16 cases referred to by the petitioners has been handed over to Mr. Banerjee, learned Senior Counsel for the State.

The State has its own list of pending cases against the petitioners. A list of cases referred to by the Officerin-Charge, Nandigram Police Station is contained in a report dated 28th June, 2023 addressed to the learned Government Pleader and the same is taken on record.

The aforesaid order shall cover the aforesaid two lists.

With the aforesaid directions, the writ petition is disposed of.

7.

There shall be no order as to costs.

8.

All parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.
