Records of the case reflect that the Block Development Officer, Haripal, Hooghly on 11.06.2024 pursuant to the directions passed in WPA 25455 of 2023 directed the parties to be present for joint inspection which included the petitioner, the respondents, the panchayat functionaries as well as the Officer-in-Charge of the Haripal Police Station.

However, the present petitioner submitted a representation on 18.06.2024 which was reduced as General Diary Entry No. 2129 dated 18.06.2024 and approached this Court. Since there were allegations of certain overt acts, police

authorities at the relevant point of time initiated proceedings under section 107/116 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Be that as it may, since there is already a direction by a Co-ordinate Bench directing the BDO to take remedial measures, police authorities have hardly any role to play until and unless the BDO take steps. Consequently, petitioner and the private respondents are directed to co-operate with the Block Development Officer, Haripal, Hooghly.

Police authorities would be present for joint inspection as earlier directed in the communication made by the BDO on 11.06.2024.

Having considered the scope of the writ petition, I find that further pendency of the writ petition is unwarranted.

Accordingly, WPA 16188 of is disposed of.
