1. The petitioner has filed this public interest writ petition alleging that there is an illegal filling up of a waterbody. The Inspector-in-Charge, Dankuni Police Station, Chandannagar Police Commissionerate, Hooghly has given written instruction dated 7th July, 2024 to the learned Government Pleader and on enquiry from the office of the B.L. & L.R.O., it has come to know that the land is 'Sali' and the authorities are keeping strict vigil.

2. The learned advocate for the petitioner seeks permission to withdraw the writ petition. However, such a prayer cannot be entertained, more particularly, when the writ petition has been filed as a public interest litigation. It will always be open to the

petitioner to pursue his representation before the authority concerned.

3. With the above observations, writ petition stands dismissed.

4. No costs.

5. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be furnished to the parties expeditiously upon compliance of all legal formalities.
