The writ petitioners seek equal pay for equal work. 2.

Since the petitioners have already approached the Labour Commissioner with a prayer by a letter dated 5th February, 2020 enlisting their demands, it is ordered that the said letter be treated as prayer under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 and the appropriate authority shall commence conciliation proceedings and conclude the same mandatorily and positively within a period of two months from date.

The management shall appropriately reply to the demands of the petitioners. After conclusion of the conciliation proceedings and if it fails, a report shall be made by the Labour Commissioner as expeditiously as possible to the State for further action at their end. 4.

With the aforesaid directions, the writ petition is disposed of.

It is made clear that this Court has not entered into the rival contentions advanced by the parties. Since the respondents have not used any affidavits, the allegations made in the writ petition, shall not be deemed to have been admitted by them.

There shall be no order as to costs.
