The petitioner alleges that the police is unnecessarily summoning him to the police station on repeated occasions and making him wait for hours together on the plea of investigation.

Petitioner lodged complaint before the Superintendent of Police and has filed the writ petition on the ground that no steps were taken in response to the same.

Learned advocate representing the State respondents submits, upon instructions that, after the police got information that the petitioner may be involved in some cognizable offence. As per Section 149 Cr.P.C. for the purpose of prevention of such offence the police talked with the petitioner over phone. The same has been diarized vide Berhampur Police Station under GDE No. 1116/ dated 16th May, 2024. It has been denied that the petitioner was directed to report to the police Station. A complaint has already been lodged before the Superintendent of Police. The authority shall take necessary steps in response to the same. The police shall ensure that the petitioner is not unnecessarily directed to report to the police

station. If the presence of the petitioner is required in connection with any proceeding, then formal notice should be given prior to summoning him to the police station.

The writ petition stands disposed of.
