The petitioner is a candidate in the forthcoming Panchayat Elections from Mallickpur Gram Panchayat under Baruipur Police Station. She claims that she has received number of threats to her person preventing her from participating in the election process at all, since she is a candidate of an opposition party.

Learned senior counsel for the State, Mr. Amitesh Banerjee submits that there is absolutely no threat perception of the petitioner and the allegations made by the petitioner are wholly false and baseless. 3.

Without going into the truth behind the allegations of the petitioner, this Court directs that the petitioner may be provided one armed constable as security for a period of two days starting tomorrow.

If the petitioner has security concerns and receives threat even after two days, she may apply appropriately before the Superintendent of Police, Baruipur Police District.

Upon receipt of such complaint, the Superintendent of Police shall cause an enquiry and take a decision on the matter on the same day and take appropriate steps in accordance with law.

With the aforesaid directions, the writ petition is disposed of.

There shall be no order as to costs.
