The petitioner is participating in the forthcoming Panchayat Elections. There are two FIRs registered against him. He apprehends more FIRs by the State Police at the instance of vested interests. He also apprehends restriction on his participation in the ensuing Panchayat Elections.

In view of the similar orders being passed in number of cases, let no coercive measures be taken against the petitioner by the State Police in respect of the pending FIRs or any other proceedings that may be registered against him until 15th July, 2023.

The investigation in respect of any of the pending FIRs or that may be registered against the petitioner, shall, however, continue.

Learned counsel for the State submits that in respect of two FIRs, the petitioner is an accused and is absconding.

The petitioner may return to his village and/or place of residence but shall inform the local police of his whereabouts forthwith.

He shall be available for communication with the Officer-in-Charge, Islampur Police Station.

The petitioner undertakes through his counsel before this Court to do so.

Since the petitioner complains of threat to his life and has applied before the Superintendent of Police, Murshidabad indicating the same, the concerned S.P. shall assess the threat perception of the petitioner and take necessary steps in accordance with law.

With the aforesaid directions, the writ petition is disposed of.

9.

There shall be no order as to costs.
