Versus

The State of West Bengal & Ors.

Upon deposit of Rs.2,00,000/- in two equal instalments along with reconnection charges, the connection shall be restored. First instalment shall be paid within August 20, 2024 and the second instalment shall be paid within September 20, 2024.

Needless to mention, if the supply line is reconnected, the current bill shall be paid. Failing which, the authority will be at liberty to take appropriate steps in accordance with law. The claim of the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited with regard to the outstanding bills and the denial of the petitioner with regard to the quantum, have given

rise to a billing dispute which shall be decided by the concerned Grievance Redressal Officer.

The petitioner is granted liberty to approach the said Officer, in accordance with law, within two weeks from the date. The billing dispute, so decided by the Grievance Redressal Officer, shall be final and binding. Payment and acceptance shall be without prejudice.

The writ petition is, thus, disposed of.

There shall be no order as to costs.

Parties are directed to act on the basis of the server copy of this order.
