1. The renewal of the petitioner's passport is pending allegedly because of pendency of two criminal cases against him. The petitioner prays for renewal of the same.

2. The Notification dated 25th August, 1993 being GSR 570(E) issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India clearly mentions that if a proceeding is pending before a Criminal Court in India then the applicant is required to produce order from the concerned Court permitting him to depart from India. There are other conditions mentioned in the said notification which are also required to be followed.

3. It will be open for the petitioner to take steps in terms of the subject notification.

4. The writ petition stands disposed of.

5. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance of all requisite formalities.
