Perused the report filed by the Director of Land Records & Surveys & Joint Land Reforms Commissioner, West Bengal signed on August 22, 2025. The same specifically mentions that though the Bengal Survey Act, 1875 has not been repealed, but there is no provision in the said Act for demarcation of private land when the disputing parties are private parties.

In the absence of a supporting law to provide relief to the petitioner, the same cannot be allowed in the instant writ petition.

It will be open for the petitioner to approach the competent civil Court for relief in accordance with law, if so advised.

The writ petition stands disposed of.
