The petitioner nos. 9 and 16 are contesting candidates in the ensuing Panchayat elections.

The other petitioners are their supporters.

Admittedly, there is one FIR registered against the petitioner nos. 1 to 7 and three others, being No. 996 of 2023. Let no coercive steps be taken against the petitioners or their family members until July 15, 2023. The investigation may, however, go on. 3.

The petitioners undertake to conduct themselves as responsible citizens and not commit any offence including minor offences. The English Bazar Police Station shall bear in mind the ensuing election before taking any coercive action in respect of any new FIR that may be registered.

Let there be no coercive measures until 15th July, 2023 against the petitioners and their family members except in any serious offence in the nature of Section 302 of the Indian Penal code.

The writ petition stands disposed of.
