Mr. Indranil Halder ...for the Petitioner Ms. Susmita Chatterjee ...for CESC 18-09-2025 AKG Ct. 15 The petitioner seeks a domestic electricity connection at premises No. 33/A, Nafar Chandra Das Road, Kolkata - 700 034.

The report filed by CESC inter alia states:

"Petitioner is residing with her family members at the aforesaid premises and presently petitioner is getting supply from the existing meter standing in the name of her mother-in-law. In Bustee premises, it is not advisable to give multiple connections. Since we have already installed a meter bearing no.

432685, Consumer no. 10232116002 standing in the name of her mother-inlaw Smt. Usha Das, we can convert the existing meter to a block meter. As a result, petitioner will get the rate slap benefit and the electricity bill will be raised jointly in the name of Smt. Usha Das and Smt. Jhuma Das."

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits that the proposed conversion of the existing meter into a block meter by CESC will not resolve the dispute. It is further suggested that the meter issue be referred to the concerned Grievance Redressal Officer.

In view of the foregoing, this writ petition is disposed of

with liberty granted to the petitioner to approach the concerned Grievance Redressal Officer within two weeks from the date hereof. Upon such approach, the Grievance Redressal Officer shall hear all parties concerned and pass a reasoned order within one month thereafter.

Accordingly, WPA 15454 of 2025 stands disposed of. Urgent certified website copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
