The petitioner was issued a letter of appointment on February 22, 2019 in Group- D post in PB - I by the Director of Public Instruction, West Bengal vide memo No. 272-A. The said letter is at page 21, annexure P-4 to the writ petition.

The petitioner, thereafter underwent medical examination and went to report for duty. He was not given the joining report. His police verification is still pending.

The State is not represented despite specific notices dated August 26, 2022, September 20, 2023 and November 24, 2023. The said notices are kept on record.

In the above circumstances, it is assumed that the State has nothing to say insofar as the petitioner's appointment is concerned.

The petitioner shall be allowed to join the post to which he was appointed, within a period of 7 days from date. All formalities

including police verification may be completed in the meantime. His joining is subject to clear police verification report.

The concerned police authorities are directed to furnish an appropriate report in accordance with law to the appointing authority, i.e., the respondent no. 4.

Admittedly, the petitioner belongs to schedule caste and is also physically handicapped.

With the aforesaid observations, the instant writ petition shall stand disposed of.

9.

There shall be no order as to costs.

10.

All parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.
