Her allegation is that she is being restrained/obstructed in carrying her campaign. request has been made before the Superintendent of Police, Ranaghat Police District, Kalyani, Nadia for private security to her at the time of campaign. The same is pending consideration.

It is the duty and responsibility of the State Election Commission to ensure that the polls are conducted in a free and fair manner and it is for the police to ensure that there is no breach of peace or political unrest during the entire election process. Without entering into the merits of the allegation that has been made by the petitioner, the instant writ

petition is disposed of by directing the Superintendent of Police, Ranaghat Police District being the respondent no. 7 to consider the representation filed by the petitioner in accordance with law and to provide police protection/security to the petitioner at the time of campaign and continue the same till the results of the election are declared, if it appears that the petitioner's allegation is correct.

A decision shall be taken in the matter at the earliest but positively within 24 hours from the date of receipt of the copy of the order.

Learned advocate for the petitioner is directed to forward a copy of the representation dated June 26, 2023 to the aforesaid respondent at the time of communicating the order of the Court.

The writ petition stands disposed of.
