The application filed by the petitioner before the Sub-Divisional Officer, Alipore (Sadar) under the provisions of the Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 is pending consideration for a considerable period of time.

The writ petitioner claims to be a 65 year old widow who has been dispossessed from her own property and from the property of her deceased husband by one of her daughters being the respondent no.6 with the aid and assistance of the respondent no. 7.

According to the provisions of the Act, the Sub-Divisional Officer ought to have taken steps in the matter immediately on receipt of the complaint from the senior citizen and ought to have passed necessary order. Inaction on the part of the Sub-Divisional Officer

has prompted the petitioner to file the instant writ petition only to set the law in motion.

The writ petition stands disposed of by directing the Sub-Divisional Officer, Alipore (Sadar), South 24 Parganas to consider the application filed by the petitioner strictly in accordance with the law and endeavour to dispose of the same at the earliest. 6.

The prayer of the petitioner for providing interim relief shall be considered and disposed of positively within a period of eight weeks from the date of the communication of this order.

The writ petition stands disposed of.
