Petitioner is aggrieved by the fact that in spite of informing the Officer-in-Charge of Penro Police Station as well as the Superintendent of Police, Howrah Rural no steps were taken.

Petitioner's main grievance was that the private respondents had illegally and forcefully assaulted and threatened the petitioner as well as attempted to throw him out of his property.

Additionally, it has been contended that in spite of informing the police authorities no steps were taken.

Learned advocate for the State submits that a long standing land dispute is existing between the petitioner and the respondent and therefore the police authorities had limited role to involve themselves.

In view of the contentions advanced by the State, I direct that the police authorities would only

interfere if there is violation of law and order, to regulate the same and to ensure that the dispute is not blown out of proportion.

With the aforesaid observations WPA 16746 of 2024 is disposed of.
