Affidavit in opposition filed on behalf of the State is taken on record.

Earlier the petitioners intended to organise a peaceful sit-in demonstration on and from 8th July, 2025 near Bikash Bhawan, Salt Lake City, Kolkata and sought permission from the police authority for the same. By a letter issued on 4th July, 2025, such permission was denied by the police. Now the petitioners seek to organise such demonstration on and from 8th December, 2025.

Surprisingly no fresh application has been submitted by the petitioners in this connection before the police authority.

On prayer of the petitioners, liberty is granted to submit such application before the police authority at the earliest. The police authority shall consider the same upon granting reasonable opportunity of hearing to the petitioners.

With the aforesaid directions, the writ petition is disposed of.

There shall however, be no order as to costs.

Urgent certified website copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
