The prayer of the writ petitioner for diversion of route was discussed in the meeting of Board of Regional Transport Authority at Howrah, held on March 5, 2024.

The Board has taken the decision to seek views/opinion from the Secretary, Regional Transport Authority, Paschim Midnapore on the issue, since the proposed extended route would fall within the jurisdiction of the same.

A letter was written to that effect by the Secretary, Regional Transport Authority, Howrah dated March 15, 2024 to the Secretary, Regional Transport Authority, Paschim Midnapore.

Since thereafter, there has been no progress in the matter. Opinion has not yet been received in the office of the Secretary, Regional Transport Authority, Howrah, pursuant to the letter as above.

Thus, the petitioner is aggrieved due to the inordinate delay and laches being caused by the concerned respondent, that is RTA, Paschim

Midnapore, to inform its views/opinion, as sought for by RTA, Howrah.

Heard the submissions and perused the records. 8.

On consideration of those, the present writ petition is disposed of with the following direction:- (i). The Secretary, Regional Transport Authority, Paschim Midnapore shall take appropriate steps, in replying the letter of the Secretary, Regional Transport Authority, Howrah dated March 15, 2024, immediately but not later than seven days time from the date of communication of this order.

(ii) RTA Paschim Midnapore shall communicate its decision, in writing, to RTA Howrah immediately thereafter.

Since no affidavits are called for, allegations made in the writ petition, are deemed to have been denied by the respondents.

10. This writ petition being WPA No. 16855 of 2024 is disposed of, along with the pending applications, if any.
