(Via Video Conference) Md. Ahsanuzzaman ... for the petitioner The father of the petitioner was serving as an Assistant Teacher of a primary school. He died in harness on 20th July, 1997. The mother of the petitioner also expired on 14th June, 2010.

The petitioner has filed a representation before the respondent authority on 22nd December, 2020 and prays for a direction upon the respondent authority for consideration of his prayer for being appointed on compassionate ground.

Applications for compassionate appointment are made immediately on the death of the breadearner. The idea is to give opportunity to the heir of the deceased to seek appointment because of the financial crisis that may be faced by the family on the death of the bread-winner.

In the instant case, the father of the petitioner expired in July, 1997 and the petitioner has filed an application for being appointed in compassionate ground in December, 2020. There has been enormous

unexplained delay on the part of the petitioner in approaching the authority with prayer for compassionate appointment.

As compassionate appointment cannot be claimed as a matter of right accordingly the application made by the petitioner claiming compassionate appointment after a considerable period of nearly twenty three years after the death of his father does not merit any consideration.

Writ petition fails and is hereby dismissed.
