The grievance of the petitioner/developer is that despite the petitioner having applied for a domestic electricity connection to a multistoried building, which has been developed and is partially occupied by the petitioner himself, the Distribution Licensee is sitting tight over the matter.

Learned counsel for the WBSEDCL submits that the petitioner had been enjoying a commercial connection at the multistoried building-in-question, for which an outstanding amount of dues still remains.

It is submitted that the said outstanding has partially being cleared but the rest remains outstanding. It is contended that, subject to the said outstanding dues being cleared and a joint single application being made for a service connection to the premises, catering to the

load of all the inhabitants of the building, the WBSEDCL has no objection in principle to give the same, subject to compliance of formalities.

Upon hearing learned counsel for the parties, WPA 16391 of 2022 is, accordingly, disposed of by granting liberty to the petitioner to apply for a single service connection to the multistoried building-in-question, of load sufficient to cater to the individual requirements of all the residents at the said multistoried building, jointly or individually, and to clear the outstanding dues in respect of the commercial connection which was enjoyed by the petitioner at the said premises.

On such an application being made and clearance of all outstanding dues as well as compliance of other formalities, the WBSEDCL shall give such adequate service connection to the premises as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a fortnight from the compliance of all formalities by the petitioner. There will be no order as to costs.

Urgent photostat copies of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties upon compliance of all requisite formalities.
