1. Affidavit of service filed in Court today be retained with the records.

2. Instruction forwarded by the Officer-in-Charge, Law Cell, Directorate of Correctional Services, West Bengal is also taken on record.

3. The wife of a life convict has approached this Court praying for issuance of the remission cum release order in respect of her husband.

4. From the instruction forwarded by the Officer-in-Charge, Law Cell, Directorate of Correctional Services, West Bengal, it appears that the State Sentence Review Board (SSRB) considered the proposal for pre-mature release of the life convict, namely, Md. Amjad @ Md. Amzad @ Amjed currently aged about 59 years in the SSRB's 69th meeting held on 2nd September, 2022 and upon consideration of the reports/inputs from several government authorities like police, Superintendent of Correctional Home, Chief Probation cum After Care Officer recommended for pre-mature release of the life convict. The remission cum release order is to be issued by the Judicial Department on getting approval from the Government.

5. A prayer by the petitioner is pending consideration before the Judicial Department.

6. The Judicial Secretary is directed to take steps to consider and dispose of the prayer of the petitioner in line with the recommendation made by SSRB at the earliest, but positively within a period eight weeks from the date of communication of this order.

7. The writ petition stands disposed of.

8. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance of all requisite formalities.
