This public interest writ petition has been filed praying for a direction upon the respondent no.7 on the alleged ground that she has printed her photograph in the national flag and used it for the campaigning during the recently concluded Panchayat elections.

The learned advocate appearing for the respondent no.7 submitted that the photograph of the respondent no.7 had been printed without her knowledge and upon show-cause notice being
issued by the Block Development Officer, she has tendered unconditional apology. That apart, it is submitted that a complaint has been lodged with the police and an F.I.R. has been registered and investigation is being proceeded.

The Officer-in-Charge, Rajapur Police Station, Howrah Rural District has filed a report dated 7th August, 2023, from which it is seen that already an F.I.R. has been registered and investigation is being carried on.

In the light of the subsequent developments, the grievance of the writ petitioner stands redressed and needless to state that it is for the respondent/police to investigate the case and proceed in accordance with law.

With the above observation, the writ petition stands disposed of.
