Report submitted by the State is taken on record. The petitioner is in custody for more than two years and renews his prayer for bail.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that despite a direction by this Court to expedite the trial and conclude the same within a year from the next date fixed for recording of evidence, trial is yet to be concluded.

Learned counsel for the State opposes the prayer. I have considered the material on record. On merits, the petitioner does not deserve a favourable order. This Court is informed that the trial Court was lying vacant from 22nd March, 2024 to 7th May, 2025 which resulted in delay in progress of the trial. Learned Judicial Officer has joined at present and trial is in progress. Prosecution proposes to examine 12 more witnesses.

Considering the material on record, prayer for bail is rejected at this stage.

The learned trial Court is directed to expedite the trial without granting any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties. The application for bail is disposed of.
