Heard learned counsels for the parties.

The petitioner is in custody for more than 160 days and prays for bail.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is not involved in the alleged offence and there is no allegation against him.

Learned counsel for the State opposes the prayer. I have considered the material on record. Though the petitioner does not appear to be the principal assailant, he along with others forcibly took the victim to the house of the principal assailant and assaulted him jointly. The victim succumbed to his injuries.

Considering the gravity of the offence and prima facie involvement of the petitioner therein, prayer for bail is rejected at this stage.

The application for bail is thus disposed of.
