Learned advocate appearing for the State opposes the prayer for bail and submits that the petitioners in conspiracy with superior police officers had induced innocent victims to part with money on the false promise of giving employment as home guards. We have considered the materials on record. Statements of witnesses prima facie disclose involvement of the petitioners in the alleged crime. In view of the gravity of the offence, we are not inclined in granting bail to the petitioners at this stage. The application for bail is thus rejected.
