The petitioner seeks implementation of the notice dated 26th March, 2018 issued by the Assistant Engineer & Authorized Highway Authority, Diamond Harbour Sub-Division, Public Works Directorate. By the said notice, the Assistant Engineer directed for removal of the unauthorized encroachment from the Government land. The said encroachment is yet to be removed.

None represents the respondents.

Government land ought to be zealously protected and any encroachment thereof should be immediately removed.

The time period within which the unauthorized encroachment was to be removed expired long back. The authority ought not to wait any further and take immediate steps for removal of the unauthorized encroachment.

The respondent authority is directed to take immediate steps in the matter in accordance with law furtherance to the notice dated 26th March, 2018 at the earliest but positively within eight weeks from the date of communication of this order.

Writ petition stands disposed of.

Affidavit of service filed to the affidavit in opposition is taken on record.
