The writ application has been preferred praying for direction upon the Certificate Officer to dispose of the certificate proceedings expeditiously.

On hearing the learned counsel appearing for the parties and the materials on record, it appears that a certificate under Section 8 of the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972 was issued to the Collector and District Magistrate, Hooghly by the Controlling Authority on 30.7.2024.

It appears that the certificate officer, Hooghly vide a hearing notice dated 24.2.2025 has taken steps for hearing.

Five long months have passed but there is no further progress in the proceedings.

Accordingly, the writ application is disposed of with the direction that the Certificate Officer, Chandanngore, Hooghly shall make all endeavour to dispose of the proceedings before it within 60 days from the date of communication of this order in accordance with law.

The District Magistrate and the Collector, Hooghly is requested to supervise that the proceedings are completed in accordance with law as per the order of this Court.

WPA 16435 of 2025 stands disposed of.

Urgent Photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the learned counsel for the parties on usual undertakings.
