Naba Kumar Naskar v. West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited And ORS.
29.7.2025 DL.21 Court No.15 sg WPA 16391 of 2025 Sri Naba Kumar Naskar Vs.
The West Bengal State Electricity Distributor Company Limited & Ors.
Mr. Sankar Prasad Dolapati Mr. Safik Dewan Mr. Tamal Taru Panda Mr. Sourav Mondal ....for the petitioner.
Mr. K. Bhattacharya ....for the WBSEDCL.
The petitioner seeks an electricity connection for his residential premises at Kadarat, Narendrapur Station Road, South 24-Parganas, Kolkata - 700150.
Learned advocate appearing for the WBSEDCL submits that due to objections raised by local people, the connection could not be effected. It is an admitted fact, as submitted by the learned advocate for the petitioner, that due to some animosity, respondent nos. 7, 8, and 9 have objected to the proposed electricity connection in favour of the petitioner.
Despite service, respondent nos. 7 to 9 are not represented. I am of the view that, since the settled proposition is not in dispute and WBSEDCL, in principle, has no objection to providing the
electricity connection to the petitioner, the writ petition deserves to be allowed.
Accordingly, WPA 16391 of 2025 is disposed of with a direction upon WBSEDCL to effect the electricity connection within four weeks from date. WBSEDCL shall be at liberty to seek assistance from the local police station for the purpose of effecting such connection, and the petitioner shall bear the cost of such police assistance.
The Officer-in-Charge, Narendrapur Police Station, shall render necessary assistance to the officials of WBSEDCL for implementation of this order.
Accordingly, WPA 16391 of 2025 stands disposed of.
Urgent certified website copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
