The petitioner's application seeking transfer stood returned by the District Inspector of Schools on the ground that the petitioner was a single subject teacher in the school.

Submission of the petitioner is that the school where the petitioner is teaching is a zero enrolment school with no students or teachers. The petitioner is the only teacher in the said school. The school is practically non-functional. The petitioner presses for transfer.

As it appears that the petitioner's application was returned in July 2022 and a considerable period of time has elapsed in the meantime, accordingly, the instant writ petition stands disposed of with the observation that it will be open for the petitioner to file fresh application offline seeking transfer in the prescribed format before the District Inspector of

Schools (Secondary Education), Purba Medinipur disclosing the ground for the same.

The aforesaid respondent shall consider the prayer of the petitioner in accordance with the prevailing transfer rules.

If the prayer of the petitioner is allowed, then necessary consequential steps shall be taken by the authority at the earliest but positively within a period of eight weeks from the date of filing of the application. 6.

The fate of the petitioner's application shall be made known to the petitioner immediately thereafter. 7.

Suspension of the Utsashree portal will not stand in the way of the authorities from taking steps in terms of the order passed hereinabove.

The writ petition stands disposed of.

9.

Parties to act on the basis of the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.
