By order dated January 15, 2021 the Court disposed of the writ petition by directing the Raiganj Municipality to consider the petitioner's representation for release of the retirement benefits due to her in accordance with law.

Today a communication has been produced by the learned advocate appearing on behalf of the alleged contemnor being Memo No. RM/Estt/1155 dated November 26, 2021 signed by the Chairman, Raiganj Municipality whereby the service book along with other related papers of pension and gratuity of the petitioner has been forwarded to the Director of Pension, Provident Fund & Group Insurance for sanctioning pension and gratuity.

As it appears that the Chairman of the Municipality has already forwarded the service book and other papers of the petitioner recommending sanction of pension and gratuity to the Director of Pension, Provident Fund & Group Insurance, no further order is required to be passed in the present contempt application.

The Chairman of the Municipality is directed to follow up the matter and ensure that the same reaches its logical conclusion at the earliest.

The contempt application stands disposed of.

A copy of the memo dated November 26, 2021 issued by the Chairman, Raiganj Municipality be retained with the records.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties after completion of all legal formalities.
