1. Affidavit-of-service filed by the petitioner is retained with the records.

2. The petitioner seeks renewal of her passport. The application for renewal could not be considered because of pendency of a criminal proceeding against her.

3. It has been brought to the notice of the Court by the learned ASGI that the criminal case has since been disposed of by tendering final report on 2nd August, 2024.

4. As it appears that the criminal case which was pending against the petitioner has ended in a final report, accordingly, there ought not to be any impediment on the part of the authority in renewing the passport of the petitioner.

5. The instant writ petition is, accordingly, disposed of by directing the Regional Passport Officer to take

necessary steps for renewing the passport of the petitioner in accordance with law at the earliest but positively within a period of four weeks from the date of communication of this order.

6. The instruction forwarded by the Regional Passport Officer, Kolkata dated 23rd August, 2024 be retained with the records.

7. The writ petition stands disposed of.

8. Urgent certified photocopy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties expeditiously on compliance of usual legal formalities.
