The petitioner is aggrieved by the fact that in spite of the local police station having no adverse observations so far as the conduct of the petitioner is concerned and a report to that extent submitted with the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, yet the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Arms Act Department, Kolkata refused to grant licence. Petitioner submits that he is a State level shooter as also a member of West Bengal Rifle Association having participated in many tournaments.

I have considered the order by which the Assistant Commissioner of Police has refused such prayer. Having regard to the fact that no reasons were assigned for regretting the permission for such licence in respect of the application advanced by the petitioner, I direct the Assistant Commissioner of Police to revisit the prayer advanced by the

petitioner after giving him appropriate opportunity of hearing. Let the said process be communicated within a period of 45 days from the date of communication of this order.

With the aforesaid observations, the writ petition being WPA 16542 of 2025 is disposed of. There will be no order as to costs.

All concerned parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
