Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits as follows. The petitioner worked at and retired as a Senior Assistant from the University of Calcutta on 30.09.2016. Some of the staff of the University who were junior to the petitioner were given promotion ahead of the petitioner. The petitioner is entitled to a higher pay scale for calculation of his pensionary benefits. A representation in this regard dated 18.08.2023 was made to the Vice Chancellor of the University, but no response has been forthcoming.
Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the University denies the allegations made in the writ petition and submits that if a fresh representation in this regard is made to the Registrar of the University, the same will be considered expeditiously and in accordance with law.
In view of the above, let the petitioner make a fresh representation in this regard to the Registrar, University of Calcutta, the respondent no.3 herein, within a week from this date. The respondent no.3 shall consider the said representation in accordance with law and as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of such representation.
With these observations, the writ petition is disposed of.
It is clarified that the merits of the case have not been gone into.
