The petitioner has preferred the present writ petition being aggrieved by the inaction on the part of the respondent authorities in not effecting a new domestic water connection to the premises of the petitioner, despite the petitioner having completed all necessary formalities, on the ground that the private respondents are raising objections.

It is the case of the petitioner that the petitioner and his family are residing at P-224, Rameshwarpur Road, Garden Reach, Kolkata 700024. The petitioner applied for separate water connection which was duly accepted by the authority

concerned and accordingly payment was made on 19.04.2024 by the present petitioner. However, the respondentCorporation unjustifiably withheld the grant of such water connection to the petitioner since the private respondents had objected to the said grant of water connection. The petitioner had made several representations including the one dated 12.06.2024, but no effective response has been received from the Kolkata Municipal Corporation thus far.

Mrs. Sima Chakraborty, appears for the Municipality submits that the authorities are ready and willing to consider the petitioner's representation dated 12.06.2024. In view of such statement, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that his client shall be satisfied if the same is done within a time bound manner.

In view of such submissions, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondent-Corporation to decide the representation of the petitioner dated 12.06.2024 within a period of six weeks from the date of communication of this order after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner as well as the private respondents or any other interested parties by way of a speaking order. With the above direction, the writ petition being WPA No. 17703 of 2024 is disposed of.
