Learned lawyer for the State opposes the prayer for bail. She submits trial is in progress and four witnesses have already been examined.

We have considered the materials on record. Allegations relates to sexual assault on a minor victim. Trial has substantially progressed.

Under such circumstances and in view of the gravity of the offence, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner. We direct the trial court to conclude the trial at an early date preferably within six months from the next date fixed for recording evidence without granting unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties.
