The learned advocate for the petitioners is present and submits that the petitioners, who are the husband and his in-laws, are the opposite parties to the complainant, who is the wife. Based on the wife's complaint, Parnasree Police Station Case No. 119 of 2020 was initiated on June 10, 2020. It includes charges under Sections 498A, 406, 354C, 506, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, and Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961. Following the completion of the investigation, the trial for G.R. Case No. 1261 of 2021 (ACGR No. 2663 of 2020) began on April 18, 2023, before the learned Judicial Magistrate, 4th Court, Alipore, South 24-Parganas. The examination of P.W. 1 has started but is still ongoing.

In the interim, the petitioners filed a revisional application, CRR 2646 of 2024, seeking an expeditious trial. The Hon'ble Coordinate Bench disposed of that application on July 18, 2024, with a necessary directive for quick disposal given to the learned trial court. However, no material progress has been noticed since then.

Therefore, the petitioners have again approached this court for a similar direction.

The learned Trial Judge is hereby directed to take all necessary measures for the swift conclusion of the trial and disposal of this case, namely G.R. Case No. 1261 of 2021 (ACGR No. 2663 of 2020). The court shall not grant unnecessary adjournments and may, if required, grant only short ones.

Accordingly, CRR 3232 of 2025 is disposed of. There is no order as to costs.

An urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, should be given to the parties upon compliance with all necessary formalities.
