Md. Zeeshanuz Zaman ..for the petitioner Mr. Sujit Sankar Koley ...WBSEDCL The petitioner is aggrieved by a letter dated June 3, 2025, issued by the Station Manager, Natunhat Customer Care Center. By the said letter, the petitioner was directed to pay a load enhancement quotation amount of Rs. 1,09,705/- along with electricity dues amounting to Rs. 76,522/-. It was further indicated in the said notice that, in the event of failure to make such payment, the petitioner's service connection would be disconnected within five days from receipt of the letter. It appears that the petitioner is running a husking mill with a contractual load of 13.16 KVA.
It is the case of the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) that the actual load utilized by the petitioner is substantially higher than the contractual load. Upon inspection
conducted on various occasions, it was allegedly found that the petitioner was consuming 37.50 KVA.
Learned Advocate appearing for the petitioner denies the said allegation.
I am of the view that the nature of the dispute should appropriately be adjudicated by the concerned Grievance Redressal Officer, who shall decide the issue relating to enhancement of load within a period of two weeks from the date of communication of this order.
The petitioner as well as the representatives of WBSEDCL shall be afforded an opportunity of hearing, and the Grievance Redressal Officer shall pass a reasoned order.
The electricity connection of the petitioner shall not be disconnected for a period of three weeks from date. It is needless to mention that the petitioner shall remain obliged to pay the current bills as well as any unpaid dues in terms of the existing contractual load. Accordingly, WPA 17022 of 2025 is disposed of. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the learned advocates for the parties on usual undertakings.
