The petitioner prays for higher scale of pay on obtaining his Ph.D. degree. He alleges that the representation made by him has been forwarded by the headmaster of the school to the Assistant District Inspector of Schools (SE), Serampore, Hooghly on 22nd July, 2019, but no steps in this respect or no decision in this respect has been taken by the concerned Assistant District Inspector of Schools (SE). The petitioner prays for consideration of his application which has already been forwarded. It is found that the forwarded application is pending before the said Assistant District Inspector of Schools' office for more than two years as appears form Annexure P-8 of the writ application.

I direct the concerned District Inspector of Schools, being the respondent no. 4 herein, and if there is no District Inspector of Schools, the concerned Assistant District Inspector of Schools to take a decision in this regard within a period of six weeks after giving an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner.

With this direction and observation this writ application is disposed of.

The authorities will communicate a copy of the decision to the petitioner after two weeks from the date of expiry of the aforesaid period of six weeks. (Abhijit Gangopadhyay, J.)
