The petitioner prayed for grant of saw mill licence and requested the Conservator of Forests, Nadia-Murshidabad Circle, West Bengal on May 6, 2023 for such licence. The Divisional Forest Officer, Nadia intimated the petitioner on July 28, 2023 that as the name of the petitioner did not appear in the seniority list of 1871 number of applicants as approved by the Central Empowered Committee as per decision of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, his application could not be entertained and no further application would be entertained till all the licences as per seniority list were granted.

The order is quoted below:- "In reference to the above this is to inform you that your application for General Category License cannot be considered as your name does not figure in the seniority list of 1871 number of General Category of Saw Mill applications approved by the Central Empowered Committee as per direction of Hon'ble Supreme Court of India's solemn order in IA No 1429. No new application for license of General Category will be considered till all the license are given as per the seniority list."

In such view of the matter, the petitioner's application shall be considered by the authority, strictly in accordance with law, at the appropriate stage.

Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of. However, there will be no order as to costs.

Parties are directed to act on the basis of the server copy of this order.
