Counsel for the writ petitioners submits that the private respondents are illegally encroaching upon their patta land and are disturbing their possession. Counsel for the private respondent no.6 claims that the land is vested in the State.

This Court is of the view that the disputes between the parties cannot be dealt with by the police. There is no inaction on the part of the police. The parties may approach the appropriate civil or statutory forum in this regard.

The O.C., Kakdwip Police Station shall, however, ensure that there is no breach of peace in the area The writ petition is disposed of.

There will be no order as to costs.
