Learned lawyer for the State opposes the prayer for bail. We have considered the materials on record including history of the case as recorded in the medical papers. From the materials it appears petitioner and his wife are the principal accuseds who poured acid in the mouth of the victim.

In view of the principal role played by the petitioner in the crime and the gravity of the offence, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.

Accordingly, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected at this stage.
