1. By this public interest litigation, the petitioner alleges illegal felling up of trees. Representation was given to various authorities but however, we find that representation was not specifically made to the concerned Divisional Forest Officer.

2. Be that as it may, the representation given to the Government of India has evoked response and the Assistant Inspector General of Forest, Forest Protection Division, Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change by a proceeding dated 29th May, 2024 has forwarded the representation given by the writ petitioner to the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Government of West Bengal, 4th respondent for appropriate action in the matter.

3. In the light of the above, we direct the 4th respondent to instruct the appropriate officer of the Forest

Department, Government of West Bengal to consider the representation, conduct an inquiry and proceed to take action in accordance with law.

4. This direction be complied with within a period of 12 weeks from the date of receipt of server copy of this order.

5. With the aforesaid directions, the writ petition is disposed of.

6. No costs.

7. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be furnished to the parties expeditiously upon compliance of all legal formalities.
