The Officer-in-Charge, Haroa Police Station, Basirhat Police District has filed a further report dated 13th March, 2023 and the same is taken on record. It appears from the report that repeated raids were conducted even after receiving information from the petitioner as regards whereabouts of Jahangir Molla. He is now a proclaimed offender.

The police shall continue to search for and trace out the said Jahangir Molla. The petitioner shall be entitled to furnish any information as regards the whereabouts of Jahangir Molla to the Haroa Police and efforts shall be made apprehend him.

Mr. Chattopadhyay submits that the said accused enjoys political patronage and is often seen in public. This Court is compelled to observe that the inability of the police to trace out Jahangir Molla since the year 2009 and notwithstanding the trial coming to an end does not show Haroa Police in a very good light.

With the aforesaid observations, the writ petition shall stand disposed of.

There shall be no order as to costs.

All parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.
