The petitioner is an occupier of a portion of the structure standing at 31, Makardah Road, Kadamtala, Howrah. He intends to obtain new electricity connection. The petitioner has deposited the amount quoted by CESC Limited.

The connection, however, could not be given to the petitioner because of the resistance of the private respondent. 3.

None appears on behalf of the private respondent despite service. Affidavit of service filed in Court today is retained with the records.

As electricity is an essential commodity, the petitioner ought not to be deprived from enjoying the same.

Accordingly, CESC Limited is directed to provide electricity connection to the petitioner in the existing meter board with the help and assistance of the Officer-in-Charge, Bantra Police Station. The petitioner will be liable to pay the necessary charges for providing police assistance.

Steps shall be taken in the matter at the earliest, but positively within a period of four weeks from the date of communication of this order.

The writ petition stands disposed of.

8. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance of all requisite formalities.
